Join our beginner-friendly Estonian language course in Tallinn Old Town with teacher Sandra Sainio and build your confidence step by step.

This is course is for those who have little to no knowledge of Estonian. It develops all four skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The textbook used in the class is “Tere!” (I. Mangus, M. Simmul 2015). Additional materials (e.g. Keeleklikk) are also used.

The overall aim of this course if for you to manage everyday language situations.

During our 9 week basic course…

You will cover a range of topics, including:

• pronunciation;
• common greetings and everyday expressions;
• countries, nationalities and languages;
• months and days of the week;
• telling the time;
• everyday activities;
• family;
• setting up a meeting with a friend;

…and all the mind-blowing Estonian grammar rules!

Numerals, personal pronouns, interrogatives, verb conjugation in present tense, locative cases, the plural of nouns, infinitives, nominative, genitive and partitive case, adverbs of time, ordinal numbers.

Learning outcomes:

• can understand and use common everyday expressions and simple phrases;
• can introduce themselves and other people and can ask and answer questions about personal details (such as where they are from, where they live and work etc);
• able to order food and beverages and set up a meeting with a friend.

Scope of the course is 52 academic contact hours with 26 hours of additional independent work.

Assessment criteria is in the form of conversations, oral and written translations, weekly preparation of conversation topics and written grammar exercises.

Minimum attendance rate of 75% is needed to complete the course.
Upon request a certificate is awarded for successful completion of the course.

Eesti keel algajatele kursuse eesmärk ja õpiväljundid:

Kursuse eesmärk on omandada keeleteadmised, mis aitavad õpilasel end igapäevasituatsioonides väljendada. Kursuse jooksul arendatakse kõiki nelja osaoskust: rääkimis-, kuulamis-, kirjutamis- ja lugemisoskust.

Kursuse lõpetaja:

• mõistab ja kasutab igapäevaseid väljendeid ja lihtsamaid fraase;
• oskab ennast ja teisi tutvustada;
• oskab vastata lihtsatele küsimustele enda ja oma pereliikmete kohta;
• saab hakkama toidu tellimise ja kohtumiste kokkuleppimisega.

Sihtgrupp:

Eesti keele kursus on mõeldud neile, kellel puuduvad või on väga vähesed teadmised eesti keelest.

Õppekava kogumaht I semestril on 78 tundi, mis koosneb 52 kontakttunnist ja 26 tunnist iseseisvast tööst.

Õppeklassides on olemas vajalikud tehnilised vahendid (tahvel, CD-mängija, projektor jm) vastavalt vajadusele.

Eesti keele kursus algajatele teemade lõikes:

• viisakusväljendid;
• rahvused, riigid ja keeled;
• nädalapäevad ja kuud;
• kellaaeg;
• igapäevategevused;
• perekond;
• elukoht ja amet;
• kohtumise kokkuleppimine;

 Grammatika:

Arvsõnad, isikulised asesõnad, küsisõnad, ajamäärused, järgarvud, ma- ja da- infinitiiv, verbi pööramine olevikus, nimisõnade põhivormid, mitmus, küsimuste moodustamine, kohakäänded.

Kursusel kasutatakse õpikut „Tere! Eesti keele õpik algajatele 0-A1“ ( I. Mangus, M. Simmul), e-keskkonda Keeleklikk ja õpetaja poolt koostatud materjale.

Kursuse lõpetamise tingimuseks on osalemine vähemalt 75% tundidest ja lõputest.
Soovi korral väljastatakse tõend või õpiväljundite saavutamisel tunnistus.
Tulemuste hindamine toimub vestluste, suuliste ja kirjalike tõlgete ja kirjalike grammatikaharjutuste kaudu.
